Potawatomi offer craps, roulette for first time
Saturday, June 14, 2003
Craps and roulette gaming was offered for the first time legally in Wisconsin on Friday as Potawatomi Bingo Casino unveiled the games at its Menomonee Valley casino.
The two craps tables and two roulette wheels were opened on the main gaming floor of the casino, 1721 W. Canal St., at 9 p.m., just hours after the casino received final approval from the Forest County Potawatomi Executive Council, said casino spokeswoman Linda Sowell.
The two tables will be open 24 hours, seven days a week, with a $5 minimum and $500 maximum on all bets.
The new table games at the casino were added under terms of a new gaming compact the Potawatomi agreed to with Gov. Jim Doyle earlier this year. Republican lawmakers have sued over the compact, however, claiming Doyle exceeded his authority when he struck the deal.
