Her now famously honest "Sometimes, we're all like that" speech on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! not only won Rhona Cameron a Best TV Reality Moment 2002, but turned her into a TV star. Since then she has garnered such gigs as the presenter's job on the ITV1 quiz show, Russian Roulette and Rhona's Rudest Videos. She also has a burgeoning career as a writer, with her debut book, Nineteen Seventy- Nine, A Big Year in A Small Town (Edbury Press), being published next month.
However, despite her success in other fields, the Scottish comedian has not neglected her live work. She remains a coruscating and daring stand-up, something she will be underlining on this national tour, which opens in Leeds on Thurday and runs over the next four months.
What distinguishes Cameron as a performer is her refreshing frankness about herself. She is never less than disarmingly candid: "I've tried to do material taken from outside my own life," explains the comedian, "but it hasn't worked."
