OMAR SHARIF flew into a violent rage after losing 20,000 in a single bet playing roulette at a casino in France, writes Ian Sparks.
A court in Pontoise heard that the 70-year-old film star screamed abuse at a croupier, and when police arrived he head-butted a young gendarme at the casino in Enghien-les-Bains on 5 July.
Sharif claimed he remembered nothing of the incident. He was given a one-month prison sentence suspended for two years, fined 1,000 and ordered to pay 200 damages to the injured policeman.
