Chicago Sun-Times: As predicted, Vince McMahon back in a big way

As I said last week, the time was right for Vince McMahon to make his return to the WWF, and the boss came back just in time Monday night to help the Rock defeat the Big Show and get back into the main event at "WrestleMania."

Shane McMahon, the new sidekick of the Big Show, made his case that by winning the match the Rock is in, but he never stipulated that by losing the Show would be out of the title match. At it stands now at "WrestleMania," the WWF title will be on the line in a three- way dance between HHH (with Stephanie), the Big Show with Shane and the Rock with Vince.

Not only will the title be on the line, but now we are hearing that Vince has had enough of his kids ruining the company, and full power of the WWF will be on the line as well.

What about Linda McMahon, you might ask. One rumor in the locker room at the Meadowlands this past Monday had Linda reinstating Mick Foley and making the title match a four-corner affair. Also at "WrestleMania," look for a legends match to occur between Mae Young and Moolah, who had a parting of ways on "Raw." Another match that was just added is Chyna and Too Cool teaming up to face Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn.

`NITRO' DROPS BELOW 3: As bad as it's been for the WCW in the Monday night ratings war, at least when unopposed by the WWF, the WCW used to show a decent rating. But that also has stopped, as "Nitro" dropped to new lows this past Monday.

The show's first hour did a 2.9, then dropped to 2.2 once "Raw" hit the air for an alarming 2.6 total. "Raw" posted hours of 6.1 and 6.4 for a 6.3 total. The Rock retirement match and the return of Vince McMahon drew a 7.2.

HEARD AROUND THE RING: The WWF "King of the Ring" sold out the FleetCenter in Boston in record time. . . . After the hideous bump taken by New Jack and Vic Grimes at the ECW "Living Dangerously" PPV, Jack was hospitalized for two days with a concussion and internal bruises. . . . Hardcore Holly will return from a ribcage injury this week on "Raw," and Stevie Richards is expected back the night after "WrestleMania." . . . Spike Dudley suffered a complete tear of a knee ligament and will be out six to nine months. . . . Bret Hart has been told by doctors to consider retirement. Hart cannot get on a plane or stand for long periods of time after suffering multiple concussions. . . . Crush and Wrath are returning to the WCW on April 3 as a new tag team called Cronic. . . . Vic Grimes' run in the ECW is over, and he will return to the WWF soon. . . . The Hardcore title match Monday night at Newark Airport was the first-ever televised victory for the Mean Street Posse. . . . Sean Staziak has been at the WCW Power Plant for two months and might debut soon. . . . Eddie Guerrero has been cleared by doctors to wrestle and will be doing a Bob Orton Jr. gimmick where he wears the cast even after being healed. . . . Some of the older wrestlers are upset with Mae Young's antics in the WWF and feel it is a blemish to the wrestlers of the past. . . . Glen Kulka has been released by the WWF and might be popping up in the ECW.
