LAWRENCE --- Chantal E. Anderson, 25, Lawrence, was killed in a traffic accident in Douglas County on Monday, Aug. 18, 2003.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Holiday Inn Holidome in Lawrence. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
Houston M. Brock
LYNDON --- Houston M. Brock, 52, Lyndon, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at a Topeka hospital.
Memorial services will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Feltner Funeral Home in Lyndon, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to service time. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, and sent in care of the funeral home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, 66451.
Edna L. 'Granny' Burnett
HOLTON --- Edna L. "Granny" Burnett, 96, Holton, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born Dec. 6, 1906, in Soldier, the daughter of James and Elsie Johnson Ewing. She attended Oak Grove country school and graduated from Soldier High School in 1927.
Mrs. Burnett lived in Soldier for many years, where she worked as chief operator at the Soldier Telephone Office. She lived in Hiawatha for 25 years and was a waitress at the Maple Leaf Cafe for 15 years.
She was a member of the Soldier United Methodist Church.
She married Virgil Burnett on Aug. 19, 1932, in Soldier. He died Aug. 3, 1986. Twin sons, Warren and Willis Burnett, also preceded her in death in 1933.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat Smith and her husband, Lucern, Holton; a granddaughter, Kristie Hundley and her husband, Randy, Holton; a grandson, Lt. Col. Delaine Smith, Dayton, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren, Shelly Hundley, Wichita, and Brandon Hundley, El Dorado.
Services for Mrs. Burnett will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in Soldier Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the donor's choice and sent in care of the funeral home.
H. Dean George
NORTONVILLE --- H. Dean George, 79, Nortonville, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at his home.
Mr. George was a lineman for the Power Company in Las Vegas and helped construct the current power grids for the city. He later was a Blackjack dealer for the Boulder Club, the Fremont Hotel and he retired from the Tropicana before moving to Nortonville in 1988. He was a custodian for the Jefferson County North School District for seven years. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Atlantic theater from 1941 to 1945.
He was born Dec. 25, 1923, in Las Vegas, the youngest of 10 children born to William and Sarah Dayton George. He graduated from Vegas High School in 1941.
He married Irene E. Bible on April 20, 1946, at St. Joan of Arc's Catholic Church in Las Vegas. She preceded him in death Jan. 5, 2003. Mr. George also was preceded in death by six sisters, three brothers and his parents.
Survivors include his children, Lanell Mauzey and her husband, Steve, Nortonville, and Robert George, Mayetta; and two granddaughters.
Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Nortonville. A rosary recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the O'Trimble Funeral Home in Nortonville will be followed by visitation until 8:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Jefferson County Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home.
Betty Louise Keiser
OVERLAND PARK --- Betty Louise Keiser, Overland Park, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at Sweet Life at Rosehill in Shawnee. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, at Memorial Chapel in Olathe, followed by a brief time of prayer and remembrance. The family suggests contributions to American Diabetes Association.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, in 2002, and her sister, Jeanne, earlier this year.
She leaves behind three daughters and their husbands, Karen and Gary Robertson, Topeka, Kris and Oliver Becker, Olathe, and Kathy and Mark VanAuken, Lenexa. She took great pride in her eight grandchildren, Jennifer Inman, Melissa Shirk and Cody Robertson, all of Topeka, Kurt Becker, St. Louis, Brett Becker, Urbana, Mo., Doug VanAuken and Dara VanAuken, Lenexa, and Manda Lord, Raymore, Mo.; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two aunts and nine cousins.
Vivian C. Pierce
LAWRENCE --- Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Louisville Cemetery in Louisville for Vivian C. Pierce, 82, Lawrence. She died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at a Topeka hospital.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Pierce residence at 4 p.m. Friday to celebrate her life.

SABETHA --- Richard Henry Plumb, 56, Sabetha, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at a Sabetha care home.
He was born Sept. 25, 1946, in Glendale, Calif., the son of Donald W. and Anna R. Hancuff Plumb. He had lived in in Winfield for 30 years before moving to Sabetha in 2001. He had been disabled since birth.
Mr. Plumb was preceded in death by his parents and an aunt, Esther Hancuff.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Holton Cemetery in Holton.
Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements.
Bertha L. Pringle
JUNCTION CITY --- Bertha L. Pringle, 66, Junction City, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Pringle was cremated. A family memorial service will be at a later date.
Johnson Funeral Chapel in Junction City is in charge of arrangements.

JUNCTION CITY --- Nancy Virginia Thompson, 73, Junction City, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at a Rossville care center.
