Chicago Sun-Times: WWF gearing up for 'No Mercy'

After three consecutive strong pay-per-view offerings from the WWF, "No Mercy" is looking to be the "grand slam" leading up to the Survivor Series in November.

Already booked are grudge matches between Kane and Test and Undertaker and Booker T, as well as a lingerie match between Stack Kiebler and Torrie Wilson and a Ladder match with Intercontinental champion Christian defending vs. Edge.

Those matches alone would make a decent show, but add some of the rumored matches and it becomes a blockbuster. The big match is the three-way WWF title dance between RVD, Stone Cold and Kurt Angle.

The match for RVD is a clear opportunity to jump from the alliance and become wrestling's biggest star after just a few months.

An RVD title run could be premature, but with Stephanie McMahon Hemsley at his side, anything is possible.

For the WCW title, the Rock will defend vs. Chris Jericho in a match stemming from an altercation Monday night on "Raw." Also soon to be added will be tag title matches as The Dudleys face Spike Dudley and the Big Show for the WWF straps and the Hardys put the WCW gold on the line vs. The Hurricane and Lance Storm.

AROUND THE RING: Numerous reports indicate Vince McMahon had a productive meeting with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. I can't confirm this now, but I can confirm the return of the NWO to the mix would put the Monday night TV ratings through the roof. . . . Acclaim Entertainment said it has signed Hulk Hogan as its official spokesman for the company's forthcoming PlayStation 2 title "Legends of Wrestling." Hogan joins Acclaim's roster of more than 40 in-game legends, including Bret Hart, Jerry "The King" Lawler, Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka and George "The Animal" Steele, and will be featured prominently in the company's national advertising campaign. . . . Vince Russo's New Promotion has an ad for an All-Star Appearance in December. Bret Hart, Buff Bagwell, Road Dogg, Jeff Jarett, Ken Shamrock, Gangrel and Jerry Lawler will take part.
