Chicago Sun-Times: Look no further for suspect than HHH

As seen Monday night on "Raw," Shawn Michaels was brutally attacked in the backstage area during the show and was taken away by ambulance. Clearly, the main focus on the next show will be who assaulted Michaels, and I believe all roads will lead to one man-- HHH.

Helmsley was in the ring when Michaels was found unconscious, leading fans to believe he was not involved, but his reaction to Eric Bischoff when the "Raw" GM asked HHH if he was behind the attack looked to me like the actions of a man with a guilty conscience. Helmsley obviously has some issues with Michaels and may have put the final nail in the HBK coffin Monday.

One possibility could be that speculation was running way too high for an HHH vs. HBK match at "SummerSlam," and this way there would be little chance to see Michaels test his injured back in the ring.

Another possibility is that the Anti-Americans (Lance Storm, Christian and Test) were behind the beating after their run-in with Michaels during the program's opening segment, but at this point, I would put my money on HHH.

AROUND THE RING: Rey Mysterio has made one of the most impressive debuts in federation history and could be on his way to big things. Fans have not popped for a newcomer this way since Chris Jericho debuted in Chicago three years ago. ... Many think the WWE will hold the inevitable Brock Lesner vs. Kurt Angle match for the main event of next year's "WrestleMania." ... The Rock reportedly will stay with the WWE on a full-time basis and mix his movie career with a full- time wrestling schedule. ... The WWE will be in Melbourne, Australia, on Aug. 19, but a scheduled triple-threat main event between HHH, The Rock and Lesner has been canceled. On the show, Edge will battle Chris Jericho, Rikishi faces Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio gets a crack at Jamie Knoble and the cruiserweight title, Randy Orton meets Test, and Torrie Wilson takes on Stacy Kiebler in a bra-and-panties match.
