With all due respect to the matches and participants in the upcoming WWE No Way Out PPV (Feb. 23), most wrestling fans have turned their focus to WrestleMania 19 at Safeco Field in Seattle.
Already, we know Kurt Angle will defend his title against Brock Lesner in a match that should be a frontrunner for match of the year.
This match-up was inevitable, and will steal the show. Also, at what on paper will be the biggest WrestleMania ever, Shawn Michaels will meet Chris Jericho, Hulk Hogan will make his WM return against Vince McMahon in a match 20 years in the making and the early word is the Rock will face Stone Cold Steve Austin. An unbelievable card already, but HHH at this point is without a match. HHH vs. Scott Steiner III is extremely unlikely, and I don't see the Game taking on RVD, Kane or Booker T.
That would leave the WWE with a gaping hole in an otherwise perfect card. One man that could fill that hole, Sting, would be just what the company needs to put this show over the top.
In a business that sees wrestlers come and go from company to company on a regular basis, Sting was one constant in always making WCW his home. Sting was WCW for an extended period of time, and would be in the opinion of many a bigger addition than Goldberg.
Sting's addition would put five of the biggest matches in the history of the wrestling industry all on one card, and catapult the WWE back to levels it has not seen in years.
HEARD AROUND THE RING: On the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno", Minnesota Gov. Jesse "The Body" Ventura made public his intentions to host a daily political show on MSNBC. This will bring an end to speculation that Ventura could be coming back to the WWE. ... Plans are in the works for WWE video games, including "Raw 2003" for PlayStation 2, and "Ruthless Aggression" for Xbox. ... On "The Best Damn Sports Show, Period," Rowdy Roddy Piper said he hopes Hogan and McMahon kill each other at WrestleMania to get them out of the business, and that Ventura makes a better governor than tag-team partner.
