Fans were hoping for Goldberg to make his return to wrestling this past week, and they got just that. But in addition, WWE fans were treated to two more surprises as both Rowdy Roddy Piper and Sable made their returns as well.
As for Goldberg, the most sought-after free agent ever finally came to terms with the WWE, and during "WrestleMania" we learned he would be in action at the upcoming "Backlash." However, just one night later on "Raw," while the Rock was informing Seattle fans that after defeating Stone Cold Steve Austin he had done it all and there is nobody left for him to beat, the Goldberg music hit--and two of the biggest stars ever were face-to-face in the ring.
It is safe to say these two have not seen the last of each other.
Soon after the Goldberg announcement, a well-kept secret was revealed when Piper stepped in the ring during the McMahon/Hogan match. Still not sure what side Piper was on, but it's safe to say he has no love for either man.
HEARD AROUND THE RING: Details are sketchy, but nagging injuries could be too much for Steve Austin to return to performing on a regular basis. ... Internet polls confirmed what many knew right away Sunday--the HBK vs. Y2J Mania match was the best of the night.
HOTLINE: I have the inside scoop on a backstage feud between Goldberg and HHH that may force the WWE to keep them apart at all times. Details on the hotline: (900) 990-SLAM ($2 per minute).
