Chicago Sun-Times: Bye-bye Goldberg becomes a distinct possibility

With all due respect to his numerous title matches in WCW, Bill Goldberg will wrestle in the biggest match of his life on Sept. 21 at the WWE "Raw Unforgiven" pay-per-view event. On that night, when Goldberg challenges HHH for the World title, the champion will not be the only man putting something on the line--Goldberg's career will be at stake as well.

I'm not sure if HHH is scared, annoyed, or just has had enough of Goldberg, but as seen on "Raw," Hunter is willing to do whatever it takes to rid the WWE of the former WCW champ. Helmsley has been working with an injury for the past few weeks and was considering dropping the title in the Elimination Chamber at "Sum-merSlam." In the days leading up to the event, HHH was determined to be well enough to not only hold the strap, but continue on the road with the "Raw" brand as it is now very important to the company that the champ appear at house shows to help attendance figures.

Goldberg, on the other hand, has had a rocky relationship with the WWE brass--or so we have been told. To build up the main event at "Unforgiven," Goldie was made to look good at "SummerSlam" by only losing because of the HHH Sledge Hammer, and is scheduled to demolish Test on "Raw" this Monday. Should we believe the rumors that the troubled relationship between Goldberg and the WWE will lead to his departure after "Unforgiven," or the rumors that Goldberg is not willing to work a full schedule of house shows? At this point, I would have to say no to both, and hope the WWE would be smart enough to finally put the World title on the best competitor on their roster right now and bring a much-needed gust of fresh air to the "Raw" brand.

HEARD AROUND THE RING: After what happened Monday night, look for Kane and Shane McMahon to face off in an inferno match at "Unforgiven." ... Edge has been out of action six months, and his return can't be that far off. ... Don't be surprised to see HHH break away from Evolution, setting up an HHH vs. Randy Orton match at "Survivor Series." Goldberg vs. Kane for the World title also is a good chance for "Survivor Series." ... Sting will be signing a long- term deal with NWA-TNA in the coming weeks and should be champion before long.
