This weekend the WWE "Raw" brand will put on its "Unforgiven" pay- per-view, and in the main event, HHH will defend the world title against Goldberg. If Goldberg loses, he will be forced to leave the world of wrestling for good. In addition, if Goldberg loses, I will be absolutely stunned as HHH has suffered enough injuries (and defeated enough opponents) to decide it is now time to step aside for a month or so and get things back on track.
Despite fans begging for a title change on the "Raw" brand for the better part of the last year, HHH has been able to take on all comers and remain on top. I must admit that it will be refreshing to see the strap on someone else come Monday night, but there is no denying Hunter's place in wrestling history. So, after getting back to 100 percent physically (oh, yes, and after marrying the boss' daughter), Helmsley will be back in the ring and likely will be applauded with the same energy that has backed the boos for the past six months.
Also on "Unforgiven," Shane McMahon will face Kane in a last-man- standing match, Randy Orton will have a chance to defeat another legend when he faces Shawn Michaels, and Jim Ross will team with Jerry Lawler to face Al Snow and The Coach.
The winners of the match will become the new broadcast team on "Raw." I hear Snow and Coach might pull the upset and take over the headsets on a temporary basis. Stone Cold and Eric Bischoff will handle the announcing of the match.
HEARD AROUND THE RING: Word is Hulk Hogan could be looking to follow Roddy Piper to the NWA TNA promotion. Hogan recently said he had been in negotiations with the Jarrett family and could be looking to debut with the company sometime before the new year. NWA has gained some traction, but Hogan could be enough to put it over the top. ... Brock Lesnar had some loose cartilage in his right knee but will not miss any time. ... Hats off to Lesnar and Kurt Angle for their Iron Man match last week on "SmackDown." ... Look for Rikishi to make his return to the WWE in October or November. ... Vince McMahon was inducted into the Madison Square Garden Hall of Fame. ... Shelton Benjamin will be taking some time off to have arthroscopic knee surgery. Charlie Haas will compete in singles action until Benjamin is ready to return.
