The WWE and a former champion mutually agreed to part ways last week as "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash left the WWE. While as Diesel, Nash quickly became one of the most dominant stars in WWE history. Alongside Shawn Michaels at first, Diesel surprised some when he defeated Razor Ramon for the Intercontinental title on a Saturday morning syndicated broadcast, and from there it did not take long for "Big Daddy Cool" to become the most feared man in the business.
Few ever can claim to be a WWE World Champion, and almost every one would say it was the highlight of their career. But Nash holds the distinction of being the driving force behind the single greatest angle in wrestling history -- the NWO. When Scott Hall jumped to the WCW, it only took a few weeks for him to bring along his buddy Nash. A few weeks later when Hulk Hogan came on board, the NWO (and the future of WCW) was born.
Many credit Hogan, but Nash always was the most intimidating force as Hogan and Hall often relied on interference from Nash to win matches. When healthy, Nash seemed unbeatable -- but hundreds of matches later, he seemed to be constantly hurt in the WWE.
On his Web site, Nash said, "On Dec. 31, 2003 my [WWE] contract officially ended. ... There are many options ... with other companies, and I am also looking into more film and television appearances."
