Chris Benoit earned his place in the "WrestleMania" main event by winning the "Royal Rumble" -- but nobody ever said it had to be a one- on-one match. Shawn Michaels, still upset over his draw with HHH at the Rumble, took the advice of Stone Cold Steve Austin and did something about it.
While HHH and Benoit were signing the "WrestleMania XX" contract, HBK let everyone know he felt he should have the first shot at the champ. When Benoit took exception to what Michaels had to say, it wasn't long before Benoit had his lights turned out by HBK. With HHH signed and out of harm's way, Michaels was left in the ring with two things -- an unconscious Benoit and a blank contract for the WWE title at Mania. Seconds later, we had a contract signed by two men for a main event, but with no Benoit.
So, on Monday night "Raw," look for one of two scenarios: Benoit, Michaels and HHH in a Triple Threat title match, or what I think is a better idea -- have HHH face Benoit for the strap and give Michaels a match with the winner the same night. Why not let Michaels fight, say, Batista first and then take on the HHH/Benoit winner for the title to end the show? While you're at it, let Batista beat Michaels to have a No. 1 contender coming out of the show -- and to keep the rest of Evolution busy, let Randy Orton and Ric Flair battle The Rock and Mick Foley.
AROUND THE RING: Sounds like when Randy Savage joins the NWA, he won't be alone. I hear it's a lock Scott Hall and Kevin Nash will bring the Outsiders to the "Bound For Glory" PPV event. ... The WWE has announced the Undertaker's return for March 14 at "WrestleMania," but more likely he will be on "Raw" and/or "SmackDown" that week to hype his arrival.
