In a stunning development just days before the biggest wrestling show ever, Brock Lesnar informed the WWE he is quitting the wrestling business and will make his match with Goldberg at "WrestleMania" his last with the company. Many say Lesnar has been complaining for months over the travel demands as well as who his opponents have been. One rumor has Lesnar looking to get an NFL tryout.
Normally, a blockbuster like this would throw WWE management into a frenzy, but there is good news on the horizon. Sounds like Bill Goldberg has started a close friendship with Steve Austin, and Stone Cold has explained how things go sometimes in the WWE and has convinced Goldberg to stick it out. So, when the company had been planning for life without Goldberg come Monday morning, it now needs to quickly get Goldberg back into the title picture while moving Lesnar out of the mix.
The easiest move would be to put Goldie on "SmackDown" to begin a feud with Kurt Angle for the "SmackDown" championship. Last-minute plan: Why not make the match at Mania a loser-leaves-town match and get Goldberg as the No. 1 face in the company?
AROUND THE RING: Edge likely soon will be heading to the "Raw" roster. ... "WrestleMania" predictions: Kurt Angle takes the WWE title from Eddie Guerrero, John Cena beats the Big Show, The Undertaker with Paul Bearer defeats Kane, Rey Mysterio escapes the cruiserweight elimination match, the Rock and Sock Connection defeats Evolution, Chris Jericho gains some revenge over Christian, Goldberg (with help from Stone Cold) pins Brock Lesnar, The Dudley Boys leave with the tag titles, and HHH holds onto the World title. ... Vince McMahon is rumored to be leaning toward bringing back the WCW and ECW brands.
