The WWE announced it will launch WWE 24/7, a subscription video- on-demand service that will feature pay-per-view events, WWE television programs, best-selling home videos and new, original productions from the WWE and other acquired brands including WCW and ECW.
WWE 24/7 will make available approximately 20 hours of content per month -- an average of four to five new hours per week. With more than 75,000 hours of "Raw," "Nitro," ECW shows and just about every PPV event in the history of the business, there is little doubt 24/7 can bring fans a continuous flow of material.
AROUND THE RING: Paul Heyman could be looking to bring together all the stars of the ECW to make a run at the current WWE management. A big step was taken when D-Von, Bubba, Spike and RVD all moved to "SmackDown." It still is not known if the WWE is considering giving the ECW its own program, but the recent moves clearly are going in that direction. ... Kurt Angle will be taking time off from wrestling and will act as the "SmackDown" general manager until his neck injuries settle down. Angle will not need additional surgery. ... "WrestleMania XX" is the company's highest grossing PPV and will come in at somewhere over 900,000 buys worldwide. Final totals could put the PPV revenue near $50 million. ... Sounds like Sting wasn't too excited about his NWA appearance last week. He showed up after the event already had started and was not able to go over his appearance with Mike Tenay, who already was at ringside. Another example of when something looks like it was thrown together at the last minute.
HOTLINE: Two more trades that could happen before "Monday Night Raw" and the latest news on the Rock, Bill Goldberg's return and Brock Lesnar in the NFL -- all on the hotline: (900) 990-SLAM ($2 per minute).
