Over the last six months, Mick Foley has been attacked, tormented, embarrassed, and at "WrestleMania XX," defeated by Randy Orton. In fairness to Foley, the Mania match was a 2-on-3 where his teammate was a movie star, but Mick did take an RKO and was pinned. Nothing has gone his way, but now Foley has a plan that very well may re- cement his place as the hardest of the hardcore.
Tonight at "Backlash," Foley's alter ego -- the legendary Cactus Jack -- will take the ring for a hardcore-rules Intercontinental title match, but Cactus has little interest in the title. This is all about revenge, and it should be a long night for Orton and Evolution.
In the show's main event, Chris Benoit will defend his World title against HHH and Shawn Michaels in a three-way dance. Having this match in Benoit's hometown of Edmonton, Alberta gives him a huge advantage.
In an inter-gender 2-on-1, Christian and Trish Stratus will face Chris Jericho; Kane will battle Edge; Ric Flair will try to do what HHH couldn't (beat Shelton Benjamin); Victoria will defend the Women's title vs. Lita, and Tajiri will fight Jonathan Coachman.
AROUND THE RING: Stone Cold Steve Austin and the WWE reportedly do not even have any meetings planned at this time, and Austin is listening to offers to wrestle a light schedule in Japan. ... There is a rumor that while waiting for his NFL tryout, Brock Lesnar could wrestle some matches in Japan and Mexico in a mask. ... Mordecai, the white-haired wrestler seen in a promo on "SmackDown," is Kevin Fertig. Fertig has wrestled under the name "Seven" and recently was brought up from Ohio Valley Wrestling to play this new character. There is no word about where on the roster he will be placed or when his official debut will be. ... Despite the attack at the hands of The Big Show, Kurt Angle will remain as the GM of "SmackDown" but will wrestle on rare occasions.
