Chris Benoit may be carrying around the Raw World title, but make no mistake about it: HHH is the No. 1 man in the wrestling business. Last Sunday night not only did Hunter secure his position as the greatest competitor in Hell in a Cell history, but he also sent a message to every WWE superstar that he is back in the title hunt.
There had been some discussions that HHH would be taking some time off to work on a few movie projects. But it seems those plans have fallen through and Hunter is back in the ring full time and on a collision course with Benoit. That showdown could culminate in a title match at SummerSlam.
Granted, there is not a lot of top tier talent on the Raw brand, but Helmsley has been able outlast them all. Kane seems to be too easily distracted, Shawn Michaels is taking a few months off while his wife prepares to give birth, and Edge just does not seem to be as over as most fans would have thought.
The only Raw brand talent that could give HHH some issues right now is Randy Orton, but he is for now more of a protege than combatant. And don't be duped into thinking that Eugene has what it takes to take down Hunter. If there is no interference HHH will make easy work of the new fan favorite.
AROUND THE RING: Christian's back is acting up, so expect the former champ to be on the shelf for a few more weeks. The WWE is trying at all cost to lose Christian to surgery that would have him out of action for the better part of the next year. ... Brock Lesner is still on board with the Minnesota Vikings and working toward a roster spot. ... There has been a rumor circulating that Rikishi has been released by the WWE. He is listed as being on the active roster, but is injured. Sounds like a recurring theme for Rikishi. ... The Big Show is recovering nicely and should be back in a few months. ... Kurt Angle is looking to return to the ring at SummerSlam, but no opponent has been discussed.
