As witnessed last week, the WWE needs some type of monumental shakeup in the coming months or a long slide could be on the horizon.
The "Taboo Tuesday PPV" was a show that featured high-quality matches (Jericho/Benjamin, HHH/HBK, Flair/Orton) but was light on excitement or intrigue. This may have been the most glaring example of how the roster split -- though maybe good for business and the bottom line -- has been disastrous for fans of wrestling.
Offering fans a chance to choose the main event is a great idea, but unfortunately they were asked to choose between HHH vs. Chris Benoit for the 12th time, HHH vs. Shawn Michaels for the 700th time or HHH vs. Edge (who does not deserve a title shot just yet).
It has become painfully obvious that HHH will continue to hold the world title for the foreseeable future, and it is starting to show in the ratings. Word is "Monday Night Raw" drew its lowest rating in more than seven years last week, and there is no reason to think it will change this week.
AROUND THE RING: The WWE has details of its next CD -- WWE Volume 6: "Theme Addict." Superstars who will have their entrance music on the CD include Evolution, Carlito Caribbean Cool, Teddy Long, Christian, John Heidenreich, Chavo Guerrero, The Undertaker, Eugene, Victoria, Shelton Benjamin, Billy Kidman, Gail Kim, John Bradshaw Layfield and John Cena. ... Many wondered why Kane took such a brutal beating from Gene Snitsky on Tuesday. Kane is set to begin filming "Eye Scream Man," so his beating will be used as a story line to cover his time off. ... Shawn Michaels suffered a torn meniscus Monday night and will take some time off to have the leg repaired.
