Whenever Vince McMahon is not on hand for a WWE television program, there is a great deal of confusion in the backstage area, and the product suffers.
After taking his doctor's recommendation to take a week or so off after the Taboo Tuesday PPV event, McMahon was missing from the Raw and SmackDown tapings last week. According to some observers, both shows' run-sheets were brought to the wrestlers late, and there was confusion as to what was going to happen and at what time.
It was so bad that production meetings had to be delayed more than two hours so that McMahon could make all the necessary changes to the show over the phone from his house.
In fairness to everyone involved, McMahon is the man in the WWE, and all major decisions need to go through him. So there is not a huge surprise that the ship got a little off course. But some said it would have been nice to have seen a clear-cut second-in-command take the reins and keep the shows moving along normally.
McMahon is the most powerful man in pro wrestling, and all those involved in the WWE need to hope things stay that way.
