The Web site AskMen.com selected its top 10 wrestlers of the 1980s last week. To no one's surprise, Hulk Hogan came in at No. 1.
Following Hogan on the list was Randy Macho Man Savage, Andre the Giant, Iron Sheik, Nature Boy Ric Flair, Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hitman Hart, Jessie Ventura, Rowdy Roddy Piper and King Kong Bundy.
It's safe to say the boys at AskMen.com were not watching the NWA back in the '80s.
*Bob Holly basically attacked Renee Dupree at a house show last week and left him a bloody mess.
Holly was reacting to a number of backstage altercations with Dupree and apparently went way over the line. Holly was punished by the WWE at the SmackDown tapings last week when he was pinned by local wrestler Chris Masters.
*Speaking of SmackDown, we hear many in the WWE were quite alarmed by the poor attendance at the tapings last week.
Empty seats at house shows has become fairly common, but it's a whole new ballgame at a TV show.
*The WWE received a lot of praise form the mainstream media for its spoof of the Terrell Owens/ Desperate Housewives opening on Monday Night Football.
Shelton Benjamin, Trish Stratus and Vince McMahon were dead on, and the WWE opened with something clever for a change rather than a video recap of the previous week.
*Ricky The Dragon Steamboat was backstage with the WWE this week and could be joining the company behind the scenes.
*Jeff Jarrett is stepping down as head booker of TNA wrestling. Dusty Rhodes has taken his place.
