Chicago Sun-Times: Lesnar courting return to WWE

Right before Brock Lesnar decided he was done with wrestling and was going to make a name for himself in the NFL, he signed a contract with the WWE that was supposed to last until 2010.

As one of the conditions for getting out of the contract, Lesnar signed a no-compete clause for the duration of the contract and could not work for any wrestling or ultimate-fighting type promotion. After all, it was the WWE that invested considerable time and money to make him "The Next Big Thing."

Unfortunately for Brock, becoming an NFL star takes a lot more than six weeks of training, and the Minnesota Vikings decided they were not ready to make a long-term investment in a big body with little football background. The bottom line now is I think Lesnar will return to the WWE in 2005 or '06, but clearly the McMahons will hold the upper hand in negotiations. Waiting to have his no-compete reversed in court might take longer than Lesnar's star will shine.

AROUND THE RING: Stone Cold Steve Austin's bio has been put back on wwe.com, meaning a return can't be too far off. ... The Dudleys are expected back in the next few weeks to begin a feud with the Bashams over the tag titles, and eventually with the Shane Twins once they debut. The return of D-Von and Bubba will be bad news for Spike Dudley. ... Randy Orton vs. Christian and Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho could be added to the "WrestleMania 21" lineup. ... Garrison Cade has been cleared by doctors to return.
