Tonight at the "Unforgiven" pay-per-view, Kurt Angle will challenge John Cena for the WWE title in what should be the first of many encounters between these two.
WWE has done a nice job of getting Angle over as an out-of- control wrestling machine of late, and I just don't see any way to justify Cena leaving "Unforgiven" with the title. A new champ makes sense as WWE transitions to USA Network on Oct. 1, and it will set up a rematch at Taboo Tuesday on Nov. 1.
I think WWE has taken Cena as far as he can go as champ for now, and it's time for a change. Cena will wear the gold numerous times before it's over, so there's no need to overdo it this time around.
Other matches on the "Unforgiven" card: Ric Flair vs. Carlito for the Intercontinental title, Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Masters, Edge vs. Matt Hardy in a steel cage and Big Show vs. Snitsky. Also, Rosey and the Hurricane will defend the tag-team titles against Cade and Murdoch, and Diva search winner Ashley will team with Trish Stratus to face Victoria and Torrie Wilson.
