FULL HOUSE: High rollers will soon have even more to divert them from the craps tables at the Turning Stone Casino Resort in Verona, N.Y. Tom Fazio and Robert Trent Jones Jr. have been commissioned to build courses at the Oneida Indian Nation in upstate New York. The two layouts (Jones' opens in 2003 and Fazio's in 2004) will sit alongside the two-year-old Shenendoah Golf Club, designed by Rick Smith. If calculating blackjack odds isn't enough of a challenge, the two new courses should be: Both will measure more than 7,300 yards from the back tees.

READY TO ROCK: The centerpiece of the Muskoka Sands Resort's ongoing renovation is Taboo, a Ron Garl-designed championship course that opened June 28. When Garl's crew started peeling away trees and earth from the plot 90 miles north of Toronto, they exposed part of the Canadian Shield--massive granite formations. Instead of blasting away some rock to accommodate more conventional holes, they used the stone to make a bold statement. Rock frames several holes. Southern Ontario native Mike Weir was impressed--he has designated Taboo as his home course. The green fee is about $140 U.S.--less for resort guests. For more information, visit www.muskokasands.com.
