The ongoing improvements and additions at the Majestic Star Casino in Gary include a "Retro Room," which was designed to carry slot players back in time. All of the machines are traditional reels with handles and feature coin-in/coin-out play for those who miss the "cha-ching." Favorite TV shows from the '60s and '70s are shown on four 42-inch plasma screens.
Also newly unveiled at the Majestic was the Double Diamond Lounge on the main level of the casino, featuring a stage, dance floor, island martini bar and daily martini specials, along with the Double Down Bar on the first floor of the vessel, which offers video poker games built into the bar.

The upgrades to the slot and video poker machines at Resorts East Chicago don't mean the table games have been forgotten: Roomier six- spot blackjack tables will be introduced on the second and third levels of the casino over the next couple of months. Also, in an effort to attract a bigger share of the "high rollers," the maximum bet on blackjack was increased to $10,000 in the high-limit room while the max bet on baccarat was raised to $50,000.

The Horseshoe Casino Hammond recently converted two of its Pai Gow poker tables to Fortune Pai Gow, which offers players a side- bet option that pays a bonus for straights or higher, and an added bonus that you collect if a player (other than yourself) at the table wins with four-of-a-kind or better.
