NHRA King of the Track event
THE STRIP AT LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY, Las Vegas (July 10-11) - Bill Dudley is the new NHRA King of the Track at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, The 61-year-old drag racing veteran defeated Ty Ishibashi to claim the honor during The Strip's NHRA King of the Track Pajama Party, which began at 8 p.m. Saturday and concluded at 3 a.m. Sunday.
In Jerry's Nugget Championship Drag Racing Series competition, Bryan King defeated Carl Cannavo to claim the final-round victory in Super Pro. King, driving an '88 Mustang, ran a 10.423 to beat Cannavo's 7.983.
Nick Ariotti claimed Pro honors by defeating Scott Machael in the final.
Kristin Kaminski claimed her first drag racing victory in Street when opponent John Irving fouled at the starting line.
Billy Fraker earned the Sport Compact trophy by defeating perennial favorite Bill Dudley in the final.
Kahea Woods defeated Leo Shaver for the Motorcycle title.
A total of $1,385 was raised for the Darrell Russell Memorial Fund during the Dash for Darrell competition. Racers donated a $20 entry fee to compete for prizes donated by Jeg's Mail Order, Marie Callender's, Lamb Motorsports, car customizer Tom Daniel, Jerry Mock Motorsports, and Rick Rosen Photography.
Cannavo (Super Pro), Sam Rendon (Street), Machael (Pro), Shaver (Motorcycle), and Sandra Darby (Sport Compact) won the Jerry's Nugget Casino Reaction Time awards. The prize is awarded to the driver who posts the best reaction time on a winning run in the first round of competition. - John Bisci
