Gardnerville, Nev.-based land developer Jessey Fenton and Mohegan Sun tribe member Brian Bozsum have teamed with rookie rider Chris Rivas to bring another Buell Pro Stock Bike team to the 2005 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. A primary sponsorship package from Mohegan Sun Casino has allowed Fenton and Bozsum the added financial support needed to form the new venture.
G-Squared Motorsports is building the team's S&S Buell, and the team has hired veteran racer Mike Ruggiero as crew chief. The bike will be ready for unveiling and testing sometime in February.
Rivas, of Fresno, Calif., has been racing since 1996. In 2003, he won four of eight races in the All Harley Drag Racing Association's (AHDRA) Western Division Super Gas class en route to a second-place national finish. Last season, he switched to AHDRA's Pro Stock class and recorded a second-place finish. Rivas will attend Frank Hawley's NHRA Drag Racing School in Gainesville prior to making his NHRA debut.
