If your idea of fun has more to do with Blackjack than with Betsy Ross, gas up your rental ear and make the short drive to Atlantic City for a visit to the Borgata, the extravagant offspring of a partnership between Boyd Gaming Corp. and MGM Mirage. Opened in duly 2003, The Borgata--which is Italian for village--is the first hotel casino to open in Atlantic City in 13 years. In a nutshell, it's a $750 million resort and entertainment complex with 2,002 guest rooms and suites, 11 restaurants including four five-star dining establishments, 11 retail boutiques, a 50,000-square-foot spa, a comedy dub and event spaces large and small. The event schedule is packed solid. During RIMS week, Lenny Kravitz and Little Feat will perform. Oh yeah, there's gambling too--about 125,000 square feet of it. Be warned, however, there are very few $5 blackjack tables. So if you're up for taking some risks with Lady Luck, here's the place to roll the dice.
The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, One Borgata Way, Atlantic City, N.J., 609-317-1000.
