Aside from the most anticipated annual event in our city, The 7th Annual West Coast Salsa Congress, which will take place on May 26 -29, 2005 at "Salsaland" (on the grounds of the Hollywood Park Casino in Los Angeles), other special events this summer season include "The First Annual Cuban Music Festival," honoring the legacy of Frank "Machito" Grillo, on May 1st. Headlining the festival, directly from New York City, will be the Machito Orchestra under the direction of Mario Grillo, Jr. (son of the legendary Machito). Also performing will be Eddy Zervigón & Orquesta Broadway, celebrating over 40 years of playing charanga, as well their only visit to Los Angeles in over 20 years. Completing the roster will be the groundbreaking Texas-based Havana NRG, and Los Angeles' own Bayaló, as well as DJ Super Robby and DJ Saoco. The festival will be held at the Edward Vincent Jr. Park Amphitheater, located at 700 Warren Lane, in the city of Inglewood.
