Jet: Mo'Nique throws 65th birthday bash for mom in California

Actress-comedian Mo'Nique recently helped her mother ring in her 65th birthday with a casino-style birthday bash at the Platinum Live Nightclub/Restaurant in North Hollywood, CA.

The celebration was given by Mo'Nique and her siblings, brother Steven Imes III and sister Millicent Imes.

Steven III is Mo'Nique's manager, while Millicent runs her sister's management company, Big City Artist Management, and production company, 10 Times Greater Productions, both based in Los Angeles.

"It was the best time she ever had in her life," Steven Imes III tells JET of his mother's special day. "She really had a good time. It was one of the highlights of her life."

Since Alice "enjoys gambling," he chuckles, the party had a casino night theme.

In addition to doing the Electric Slide and other dances at the party, guests also had their choice of gambling at one of the six casino tables and poker tables, or at the blackjack table and roulette wheel.

Imes family patriarch, Steven Imes Jr., was on hand to enjoy the festivities and help his glowing wife celebrate her birthday. Alice, a retired engineer at Westinghouse, and Steven Jr., a retired head counselor of a drug rehabilitation program, have been married for 42 years.

Childhood friends, co-workers and family members came from all over, including the Imes' hometown of Baltimore.
