French food retailer Casino and Rallye are considering ending operations at its joint venture subsidiary C-mescourses.com.

Despite an increase in average sales during 2001, Casino and Rallye said neither the growth potential nor the outlook for profitability in the short or medium term justifies them keeping subsidiary C-mescourses.com in operation. Employee consultation has begun, and the operations could end in April.

Casino said its customers would still be able to get groceries delivered to their homes through its other store formats, particularly in urban areas.
