"We have a winner:" A slow economy didn't keep people from betting at Argosy Gaming's Baton Rouge casino in the last few months. The company reported casino revenue in Baton Rouge for the three months ending June 30 of $20.4 million, up from $19.4 million the year before. All operations in Baton Rouge, including the Sheraton hotel and landside developments, produced operating income of $1.2 million in the quarter, down from $1.9 million the year before. In total, Argosy's net income was $6.9 million, or 24 cents a share, in the quarter, down from $11.3 million, or 38 cents a share, a year earlier.
