THE STRIP AT LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY, Las Vegas (May 22) - Ron Landram defeated Bob Defrancesco to claim his first victory of the 2004 season in Super Pro at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Landram's '67 Camaro ran a 10.848 to beat Defrancesco's 11.047.
Scott Machael defeated Jim Heaton for Pro honors. Scott Parsons won his first ever at The Strip, taking the Street category. Kahea Woods won his second consecutive Motorcycle title, this time over newcomer Wilton Kimbrough. Michael Dudley defeated Billy Fraker for the Sport Compact crown.
Winners of Jerry's Nugget Casino Reaction-Time Bonus awards were Robin Harris (Pro), Kristin Kaminski (Street, with a perfect .500 reaction time), Randy Holly (Super Pro), Kevin Lark (Motorcycle), and Sandra Darby (Sport Compact). The prize is awarded to the driver/rider who posts the best reaction time on a winning run in the first round of competition.
Bracket Run for the Money winners were Michael Jackson (Pro), Greg Hicks (Super Pro), Mark Acton (Street/Sport Compact), and Michael Powell (Motorcycle).
In Short Line Express Markets NHRA Jr. Dragster competition Saturday morning, Ryen Lamb won her third Thunder final of the season, and Shaundra Generalao claimed Lightning honors. - John Bisci
