Famed Upstate New York horse track Monticello Raceway now offers visitors a new and exciting gaming experience.
Brennan Beer Gorman Architects (BBG) has designed a renovation to the existing grandstand that converts the underutilized ground floor space to a video gaming machine (VGM) entertainment facility.
Called "Mighty M Gaming at Monticello Raceway, " this facility features a 70-seat live performance area with stage, 350-seat buffet, food court, new kitchen and administrative offices on the mezzanine level.
Construction began in February 2004 on the gut rehabilitation project, and the Mighty M opened to guests on June 30.
Harness racing was not interrupted during the project. The entire construction progress may be seen by visiting the Empire Resorts web site at www.empireresorts.com . Click on the "live construction cam" button on the right hand navigation.
BBG's design significantly reconfigures the 146,000SF space, originally built in 1958. T
"BBG's extensive knowledge of casino design has been a valuable resource," noted Charles Degliomini, Vice President of Corporate Communications, Empire Resorts. "They have helped us clarify the program and determine priorities for this important project."
Mario LaGuardia, BBG's partner-in-charge, commented that, "The design of the Mighty M raises the bar for video gaming entertainment facilities in New York. We have created an exciting and beautiful destination that also complements the historic racetrack."
Joining BBG on the project is Bertino & Associates, owner's representative; Langan Engineering Services, Civil Engineering and Environmental Services, Albert P. Kung Consulting Engineers, structural engineer; and Steven Feller, PE, Inc., MEP engineers.
