SYRACUSE - Barton & Loguidice, P.C. (B&L), a fast growing Syracuse-based engineering and consulting firm, has opened a downtown Rochester office to serve its expanding client base there.
On July 1, B&L opened a 2,500-square-foot office in the Midtown Tower on South Clinton Avenue in Rochester, says Nicholas J. Pinto, president. He declined to provide lease terms.
"Our Rochester office was opened to serve our [Genesee Valley and Western Finger Lakes region] clients better. It's far better to serve them locally than out of the Syracuse office," Pinto says.
B&L - a 43-year-old firm specializing in environmental, solid waste, transportation, water, and facilities engineering and consulting - has recently signed up several new commercial and industrial firms as customers in the greater Rochester area, Pinto says, declining to name them. The new office will initially have one full-time employee and two others that split their time between Rochester and Syracuse. Pinto expects to add another three or four Rochester staffers over the next year.
B&L employs 125 people at its main office at 290 Elwood Davis Road in the Town of Salina, north of Syracuse. It also has 15 employees in its Albany facility, which opened three years ago.
The Albany expansion will serve as a model for B&L's move into Rochester. "Long-term we could see the same kind of growth in Rochester that we have in Albany. I see a similar growth pattern," says Pinto, noting that the Albany office's work force is likely to grow to 20 by yearend.
Barton & Loguidice generated $14 million in revenue in 2003, a 60percent increase from three years before. The company projects about a 10-percent revenue gain this year, according to Pinto.
B&L's recent or current upstate New York engineering projects include: renovation of exit 34 on the New York State Thruway north of Syracuse; a major water project for the Town of Verona and the Turning Stone Resort & Casino, and an upgrade of the City of Auburn landfill.
