Sir: Matthew Norman's powerful expose of our suicidal gambling policy (8 October) ought to be compulsory reading for every MP. The Government is supporting a pounds 40bn industry that not only relies on people's weaknesses, but knowingly bankrupts its customers while destroying their families. How ironic that the self-proclaimed party of the family, the Labour Party, has handed over the pounds 800m Millennium Dome, symbol of our future, to a casino consortium.
