CASINO gambling could surge fivefold because of deregulation, a survey claimed today.
One in three adults told the YouGov poll they would use the planned gambling leisure complexes.
The findings boosted critics claiming the plans could lead to a rise in betting addiction and debt.
They suggested a far higher takeup of gambling than was thought in the government-backed Budd report of 2001, which estimated six per cent of adults had visited a casino.
