To the editor:
I saw the article about a boat for Baton Rouge ("An excursion boat for B.R.?," Daily Report.com, Sept, 14). What do you think about the following tourist idea?
A riverboat and train would operate between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Tourists could buy a package that includes the following:
* A night at the Starwood Hotel on France street, close to the river.
* Tourists board the riverboat and take a trip to New Orleans--gambling, entertainment, the whole works.
* Tourists then spend the night at the Hilton in New Orleans near the Riverwalk.
* The return trip to Baton Rouge is on an old train that takes tourists on a ride through plantation country and stops at the Starwood. There might even be a leg out to Lafayette to Cajun country.
A riverboat is there already, and both properties are near the river and the tracks. What do you think?
