Previous fans of Tony Valentine, ex-cop and now the man gambling casinos call on for help with gaming swindlers, card sharks, and other Atlantic City and Vegas types, will relish another behind-the-scenes look at a variety of schemes. Tony has scarcely arrived in Las Vegas to solve a blackjack-cheating plot when he thwarts a suicide attempt that is also linked to the murder of a stripper. Tony's duffel bag and his business card are found at the scene of the murder. Valentine has also put up the money for his errant son Gerry to learn card counting so he can go into business with him. Unfortunately, Gerry has fallen in with a couple of real lowlifes who are not only gamblers, but also terrorists. Boehmer narrates with deliberation, making sure the reader has time to keep up with all that's going on. He has a pleasant voice, but picking up the pace with this fast-moving plot would help keep things ticking. Mary Purucker, Beverly Hills P.L., Beverly Hills, CA
