Chile approved a law allowing for the opening of 17 new casinos and creating a gambling board to approve, regulate and revoke licenses. The Metropolitan Region, which includes the city of Santiago and its suburbs, is excluded from opening casinos. The measure is designed to boost tourism across the country.
