Ralph Gardelan, executive director of New Zealand's Problem Gambling Foundation, is under investigation for running up a NZ$281,000 bill on the foundation's credit card in the last year. That included NZ$18,000 in cash advances from money machines. When asked if he'd used any of the money for gambling, Gerdelan refused to comment. The foundation, which is funded by fees paid by the gaming industry, treats problem gamblers. It does not prohibit its staff from gambling.
