Evangeline Downs Donates Day's Revenues to Relief Fund
Responding to the dire need for help and resources for the Louisiana
citizens became a top priority for Evangeline Downs Racetrack &
Casino. The racing operation is donating 100% of its revenues from Sunday's,
September 4th, racing program to the Acadiana Chapter of the Red Cross
Relief Fund. The racetrack is hosting a special night of thoroughbred
and quarter horse racing beginning at 6:45pm.
'It's a night when our entire racing industry will unite to help our
fellow Louisianians who are suffering from this horrific event,' said
Mike Howard, General manager for Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino.
'People have been asking us what they can do to help these victims.
This event gives racing fans from all over Acadiana and the United States
an opportunity to help.'
The benefit goes nationwide through the Evangeline Downs Racetrack &
Casino simulcast network. 'Everyone who bets on our races Sunday night
will be making a contribution to the relief effort,' said Howard. 'We
know that people will turn out. No bet will be too small or too large.'
